JOB SUMMARY:

Perform duties to resolve quality issues that relate to production, design, supplier, customer, and other areas. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing production and process capabilities of the manufacturing process and effectively applying continuous improvement principles and techniques to quality and manufacturing functions. This includes performing production readiness assessments (PPAP reviews) and reporting on readiness status and action plans on deficiencies. Other duties include conducting training as needed on QA/QC methodology, concepts, and tools, supporting the quality objectives of other engineering disciplines, and initiating/implementing ECO’s (Engineering Change Orders), process validation and other protocols and reports as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

The job requires a degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent in experience, along with a minimum of five years of related experience.  Candidate should have a strong background in statistical techniques, Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, and the Seven Basic Quality Tools for Continuous Improvement for making data driven decisions. Must have hands-on experience with Root Cause/Problem Solving methods and complete knowledge of documentation required to support new product introduction through manufacturing acceptance and customer delivery. Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.  Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training is desirable. Accomplishments in applying Kaizen techniques, 5S implementation or other continuous improvement activities. Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office and specialized application software packages on various computer platforms is needed. Knowledge of measuring equipment and ability to troubleshoot technical problems and suggest mistake-proofing solutions are also expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1.    Responsible for returned goods analysis and corrective action.

     1.1.    Perform analysis to determine the root cause for a customer failure.

     1.2.    Ensure that corrective action and preventive action {CAPA} is developed and implemented. Collect, analyze, and summarize data in a report to the customer, detailing the actions.

     1.3.    Respond directly to customers concerning reject issues.

2.    Perform First Articles, Manufacturing Production Process Review (MPPR), and follow-up.

     2.1.    Perform First Article Inspection of new products, notify the appropriate personnel to make changes for any problems found.

     2.2.    Organize the MPPR meeting, ensure changes discussed in the meeting are made.

     2.2.1.    Get follow-up signatures, request product to be released to ‘Active’ status, perform the final data entry tasks.

3.    Inspect outgoing Finished Goods against previous warranty returns to ensure customers receive products which conform to specifications.  Maintain associated Production Routings.

4.    Issue Certificates of Compliances.

5.    Suggest new inspection procedures and changes on existing procedures, quality control standards, equipment, and gauges to facilitate work and maintain quality.  Assist in the use of inspection and testing equipment, methods, and techniques.  Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers and Process Auditors to help achieve and maintain desired quality levels.

6.    Perform robust testing on various products to ensure that product meets or exceeds specified standards.

7.    Work closely with sales and marketing groups to build closer business and technical relationships with key strategic customers and implement custom requirements at different levels of the Company facilities.

8.    Create Inspection Plans, Master Data settings, and Quality Information Records in SAP for Plymouth and Madison Heights facilities.

9.    Coordinate Material Review Board meetings and manage the nonconforming materials.

10.    Coordinate and perform quality-related stock checks due to ECO’s, warranty complaints, and other requests.

11.      Perform other related duties as assigned.
