JOB SUMMARY:
Working under limited supervision the incumbent performs skilled technical accounting duties, including assisting with coordination and preparation of the monthly financial statements, internal, affiliate and external reporting, the annual budget and periodic forecasts, managing the Company’s commercial card program, and providing analytical support to improve understanding of financial information. The Corporate Accounting Analyst also is a key contributor related to process understanding, testing of process changes, process documentation and process improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be responsible for coordinating the month-end close process including managing the month end close checklist and ensuring timely completion of tasks. Review assigned general ledger accounts for accuracy and proper accounting treatment and prepare accruals or journal entries as necessary. Manage monthly intercompany charges and ensure properly billed and accounted for. Maintain, create, and run monthly assessment cycles. Own all intercompany reconciliations and prepare required affiliate monthly reporting. Research accounting and reporting issues and provide recommendations to Finance management regarding proper treatment. Analyze actual results vs. expectations and prepare explanations for variations to expectations for monthly financial review meeting. Own the month end close cycle and seek opportunities to optimize and improve processes. Prepare assigned monthly affiliate reporting in a timely manner to be reviewed by Finance management and added to the monthly reporting package for distribution to group accounting management
- Assist with preparing the quarterly consolidations and related intercompany reconciliations/eliminations and intercompany pricing analysis as well as other group accounting and reporting requests. This also includes ad hoc analyses related to affiliate financial activity to support business decisions.
- Prepare account reconciliations for assigned accounts and monitor the complete list of balance sheet accounts and ensure all accounts are reconciled on a quarterly basis.
- Lead financial analysis related to transactions with affiliates. In close cooperation with Finance Management, periodically analyze actual and forecasted costs and trends. Present findings to Finance Mgmt and department leaders. Act as the key contact for affiliates and intercompany for invoice processing and general questions related to Finance processes.
- Participate in process documentation and continuous improvement with a focus on TURCK’s management information systems requirements. Work with IT to optimize existing systems to facilitate decision-relevant costing and reporting. Communicate relevant requirements to Competence Center
- Assist with and participate in annual budget process including preparation, distribution, collection and review of expense databases, loading and tying out of budget files into SAP, working with Human Resources, IT and other departments for allocation methodology of benefits, facility, and IT assessments. Also act as the main contact for creation and maintenance of SAP assessment cycles (department allocations).
- Commercial cards - administer the Corporate Card program including updating travel and expense policies, optimizing processes, account maintenance, training new cardholders, establishing controls, handling inquiries, maintaining general ledger databases, reviewing and auditing expenses, posting general ledger entries, and ensuring compliance according to IRS rules and State sales and use tax regulations.
- Support other Finance team members in responding to requests and resolving issues as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of workpapers for the annual audit, the annual tax returns, and other audits as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Experience:
• Five to ten years of accounting experience including knowledge of US GAAP – IFRS and/or public accounting experience is a plus
• Demonstrated experience working with accounting and month end close activities in a major ERP system (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Peoplesoft, etc.)
• Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office software especially Microsoft Excel
• Experience with management of month end close and budget cycles preferred
• Demonstrates impeccable ethics and integrity
• Requires the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a changing environment with strong attention to detail and minimal supervision
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational and communication skills with demonstrated ability to convey ideas to a diverse audience (Finance and Operational Partners) with a customer service orientation
