QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent and 1-3 years applicable experience. Must possess good people and communication skills and have the ability to be a self-starter and handle multiple tasks.
JOB SUMMARY:
Participate in design teams to create standard and custom electronic devices. Create embedded firmware for network communications, industrial control, digital signal processing, and web applications. Work with internal and external suppliers, Manufacturing, and Product Management to ensure adherence to specifications. Test to verify product meets design specifications. Prioritize and schedule tasks from multiple sources to ensure successful and timely completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and Develop Standard Products as well as Custom Standard Product Derivatives
1.1 Assume technical ownership of development projects
1.2 Set technical objectives and define design requirements, risks, and issues
1.3 Use simulation, knowledge, and design templates to develop embedded firmware
1.4 Develop firmware compatible with existing frameworks, operating systems, and APIs
1.5 Ensure design meets all requirements for production testing
1.6 Work on international teams to develop modular firmware for industrial automation
1.7 Specify microprocessors, memory, and other support electronics as needed
1.8 Participate in design reviews
1.9 Conduct standardized and product specific tests to verify product meets design specifications
2. Provide domain expertise in at least 2 fields of software design (i.e. network communications, protocols, Digital Signal Processing, web development, etc.)
3. Assist with Engineering Change Orders
3.1 Author and submit engineering change orders
3.2 Process changes to raw material documentation
3.3 Support changes to manufacturing and customer documentation
4. Support Production as Needed
5. Assist with Marketing Feasibility Analysis for Potential New Products
5.1 Assist with conceptual designs, customer presentations and design reviews
5.2 Provide approximate project and product cost estimates
5.3 Assist with development risk assessment
5.4 Assist with justification of development
6. General Administration and Support
6.1 Learn industry standards in electronic and industrial automation design
6.2 Maintain a personal task-list to ensure successful and timely completion of all assigned tasks
6.3 Actively support company and team goals and encourage team members to meet/exceed targets
6.4 Suggest improvements to existing practices and procedures
6.5 Infrequent domestic travel is required (< 1/year)
