Automotive Key Account Manager - Detroit, MI

JOB SUMMARY:

To introduce Turck products into specific automotive accounts and all their global affiliates, development centers, and engineering locations in coordination with world area account managers.   This includes selling the full range of products into account headquarters and engineering centers and training key personnel on how to use and specify Turck products.  Also, provide product feedback to Product Management on new products or features that would allow our existing products to meet the expectations and requirements of specified accounts.  The individual will leverage their relationships with all suppliers and automotive accounts to further the automotive pursuits of other Turck sales personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

The job requires a four-year college education, preferably in a technical field such as engineering, or equivalent, and vetted experience with proven ability to coordinate a global sales effort at a key account.  Seven or more years of experience in sales, marketing or marketing management, or product management within the automation industries  A deep understanding and proven expertise in getting Turck-type products specified and converted to orders by end users and OEMs is required.  Experience developing deep relationships with large end-user accounts and OEMs and leveraging that around the world.  Success in setting up buying agreements and sole source deals that get used and are profitable.  Experience with a multi-national company or international experience is also a benefit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Coordinate the global sales effort at the specified automotive account(s) and associated OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) through direct involvement and/or coordination of world area account manager activities throughout the world to win multi-national projects.
  2. Provide input to Product Management to assist with annual product volume forecasts, marketing plans, advertising programs, sales tool development and determination of new product development needs specific to the account(s) and their suppliers.
  3. Coordinate the effort to develop global sales tools aimed at customized products.
  4. Transfer the successes and applications developed for specific accounts to the world area account managers by tracking and following projects from awareness to quotes, to orders, to installation.
  5. Develop deep relationships in conjunction with world area account managers within the key offices and affiliates worldwide in purchasing, project management, engineering, and management that lead to specifications being written around Turck products and getting buying agreements signed and used for large-scale projects.
  6. Convert project information into orders through coordination of our account managers and our past success with these automotive accounts and their suppliers.
  7. Work with the global automotive team to define the ongoing strategy for automotive pursuits.
  8. Travel to target customer(s) to solve application problems and close business.  Document activity with weekly call reports.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned.
