JOB SUMMARY:

Manages all purchasing staff and activities and establishes strategic purchasing processes and procedures. Maintains relationship with vendors and negotiates contracts for major purchases taking into consideration cost, quality and production time restraints. Evaluates purchasing and price trends to identify forecasting demand and minimize purchasing costs. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Must have a degree in Business Management/Administration, Operations Management, Engineering or a related field.
2. Must thoroughly know the modules in SAP for purchasing in ECC (Enterprise Central Component) and understanding in APO (Advanced Planning and Optimization).
3. A minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar Supply Chain leadership position.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.
5. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
7. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
10. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
11. Thorough understanding of business and management principles for Supply Chain.
12. Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
13. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Assess vendor capabilities, develop alternate sources and evaluate vendor performance.
2. Conducts negotiations with suppliers/vendors to determine product price, delivery schedule, and credit terms. Ensure that purchasing documents are properly completed.
3. Analyzes markets; recommend major purchases of materials and supplies based on anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations.
4. Communicates with other departments regarding new products and projects to facilitate the availability of required materials and supplies.
5. Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
6. Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
7. Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
8. Implements and/or maintains purchasing and record keeping systems.
9. Coordinate purchasing activities among the team like converting purchasing requisitions, managing expedites and alerts from the system, changes in the system relating to vendor, lead times and cost.
10. Manages the Purchasing department, conducting performance plans and evaluations, managing workload and administrative tasks.
11. Perform other duties as needed.
