Minimum Qualifications:

The job requires a high school diploma and basic reading and math skills.  Soldering experience is preferred but not required. Also requires a minimum of 3 years of related work experience which would include, but is not limited to, experience working with automated machines such as crimping/splicing machines and basic use of hand tools. Must have good communication skills. Must also be able to work with computerized programs such as: Outlook, SAP, Turck Connect and Turck Tools.

Job Summary:

Perform duties to assemble and test a variety of harnesses using harness board systems.  Train and guide general assemblers that assist with building board-level harnesses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work with common and sophisticated production equipment as necessary to maintain workflow and consistent output. This includes wire cutting, stripping, tinning, automated crimping, soldering, testing            fixtures,   potting, label printers, braiding machine, ultrasonic welder, low pressure mold machine and packaging equipment.
  2. Work with complex wire and cable harnesses on harness boards.  Able to understand and translate harness board drawings.  Can understand cut length tables on MFG Drawings, including to/from designations.  
  3. Understands advanced concepts of multibranch wire harness construction.  Apply standard wire layout practices to account for braiding.  Understands splicing and splice locations for board level harnesses.  Able to account for tolerance when adding connectors at the board.  Also understands standard concepts to account for molding to wires (low pressure molding system).
  4. Provides training on all processes and tooling related to harness board level assembly.
  5. Work using manufacturing travelers, work orders, drawings, bills of material (BOM), and special instructions in written, verbal, and computerized form.  Understands harness board drawings.  
  6. Perform/Manage various miscellaneous duties as required including but not limited to routine machine maintenance organizing and cleaning of workstations and daily upkeep of surrounding areas. 
  7. Manage the release of work orders to ensure meeting customer expectation.
  8. Perform BOM and procedure changes (red line) with approvals.  Ensure redlined travelers are given to Production Supervisor or MFG Technician for Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).  
  9. Has a thorough understanding of the Turck standards for harness quality and can navigate through the IPC-A-620 standards book to verify a variety of standards that Turck board harnesses need to meet.  
  10. Directs a small team of Assemblers to delegate simple tasks like verifying raw materials are fully kitted, crimping terminals, assembling connectors, labeling individual wires or harness branches, etc.
  11. Demonstrate strong communication skills and be able to share experience and techniques with other team members.  Show personal initiative and drive to learn new things.
  12. Work with common devices such as multi-meters, micrometers, rulers, cable scanners, computer test equipment, and others as required.
  13. Work with other departments, as needed, to ensure all required materials, tools and information are available for team members in the assembly of final products. Other departments may include Planning, Stockroom, Finished Goods, Manufacturing Engineering. 
  14. Communicate any continuous improvement suggestions to engineering and/or leadership.
  15. Follow safety rules and keep work areas in a clean and orderly condition through practicing the 5’s+1 standards outlined.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.
