QUALIFICATIONS: 

Must possess 1-2 years of previous harness experience. A two-year Technical degree would be considered in lieu of the previous harness experience requirements.   Takes initiative and can independently handle moderately complex projects. A strong understanding of electronic and mechanical skills is needed. Skills in specialized and standard computer applications required such as Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.  Experience with SAP desired but not required. Must possess good people and communication skills and can be a self-starter and handle multiple tasks. Must possess knowledge and experience of basic operations of all Automated and Semi-Automated Machines (Cutting Machines, Crimping Machines, Hot Melt Molding Machines, etc.). 

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide technical support to Production as needed for board-level harnesses.  Assist manufacturing engineers and Harness technicians in identifying and creating subassemblies for board-level harnesses.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Assist Technicians and Engineer(s) to identify, design and create subassemblies for harnesses.  
  2. Works closely with Harness Manufacturing Production software to enter newly defined subassembly drawings and bill of materials (BOMs).  Also works closely with Drafting for PLS (Paperless System) data entry, and manufacturing documents.  
  3. Works closely with manufacturing engineers and technicians for suggestions about further automated processing, such as strip-crimping.
  4. Evaluate the details of an ECO (Engineering Change Order) and support Engineering for those changes.  This includes making suggestions to Engineers and Technicians.  Working with engineering for the appropriate course of actions, the incumbent will communicate to all necessary team members of the changes.
  5. Navigate SAP to review routings and Bill of Materials, as well as Turck Tools and Turck Connect.
  6. Train, assist and support the production team with new or existing processes, equipment, and tooling. Communicate with the team for ways to continually improve the manufacturing processes. Answer technical questions regarding production methods and work instructions.
  7. Support Production as needed for technical questions.
  8. Support Production by setting up tooling which includes (but not limited to) strip-crimp machines, cable/wire processing, labeling, welding/auto-splice machines, braiding.  
  9. Answer technical questions regarding raw materials and Harness documentation.
  10. Communicate continuous improvement suggestions to Engineering and/or Leadership for consideration.
  11. Assist Production as necessary for complex builds and urgency.
  12. Follow safety rules and keep work areas/tools in a clean and orderly condition through the practice of 5’s. 
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned.
