Job Summary

As a Component Molding Lead – 2nd Shift, you will be responsible for the efficient and high-quality production of molded components. This involves providing technical leadership and support to molding operators, troubleshooting production issues, optimizing molding processes, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. This role requires a strong understanding of injection molding principles, materials and equipment, along with the ability to lead and motivate a team. The Lead plays a key role in achieving production targets, drive continuous improvement, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

What will you do?

  • Lead daily accountability meetings and ensure smooth shift transitions
  • Review production tracking documents and address any performance gaps 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality
  • Assign tasks and prioritize production orders to meet deadlines
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to molding operators 
  • Validate molding process against engineering drawings and quality standards 
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve issues
  • Train and mentor operators on best practices and new processes 
  • Preform preventative maintenance on molds and related equipment 
  • Ensures molds are properly prepped for upcoming production runs 
  • Optimize molding parameters for optimal performance
  • Perform quality checks and inspections as needed 
  • Execute mold changes and setup of auxiliary equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve molding defects and production issues 
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards 
  • Support start-ups, color changes, and material handling as needed 
  • Evaluate and recommend new materials and processes
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures

What will you bring to the table?

  • Technical Associate’s degree with 3 years mold experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five years of experience in injection molding operations, including mold tooling, processing, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills 
  • In-depth knowledge of injection molding materials and processing methods 
  • Experience with mold changes, setups and preventative maintenance 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Arburg Injection molding machines
  • Experience with automation and robotics in molding processes
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Certification

Working Conditions/Physical Demands, Travel, etc.

This position requires standing and walking on the production floor for extended periods. The work environment may involve exposure to noise, temperature variations, and chemicals. 

Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided and required in designated areas.
