EX Receptacle Product Notification

Turck Customers/Sales Partners,

Some variations of Turck P-RSFV .. EX -*/14.5/NPT and P-RSFV .. EX -*/14.75/NPT receptacles were recently found to have been produced using incorrect pins.

EX receptacles are approved by FM and CSA to withstand a very high hydrostatic pressure, thereby enabling their installation in explosionproof enclosures in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations.  The enclosure may then be wired using our approved Process Wiring cordsets rather than the conduit and seals that would otherwise be required.

The affected parts were produced with the pins specified for the standard non-EX parts rather than the more robust pins normally required for the EX receptacles. This results in a much lower pressure containing capability, and a reduction of the receptacle‘s ability to contain an internal explosion within the enclosure in which they are installed.

Turck strongly recommends the following course of action:

If the application does not require EX rated components the receptacles can remain installed and are fully suitable for Class I, Division 2 applications in which they are not relied upon to contain potential explosions, as they meet or exceed all specifications of the standard Process Wiring receptacles.

If the application does require EX rated components which are relied upon to contain potential explosions, please contact Warranties@turck.com to facilitate warranty replacement parts and install replacements units as soon as possible.
